There is an old saying that goes something like this:

Those than can, do, and those that can't, teach!

So why do I teach and trade?

First, let me say that no one has paid me a salary for the past 30 years, a period during which I have made my living exclusively from the markets. But as much as I love the markets I have found that this experience lacks something which important to me.

You see, I am very good at explaining things to people and get a lot of satisfaction from seeing the light bulb of understanding turn on for them. In fact, a few years ago I took the trouble and expense to earn a teaching certificate in high school mathematics from the state of Illinois. Sadly, no one even wanted to interview me - I guess I was too old and too educated. So that dream had to be put away.

But Carl Futia's Real Time Trading Seminar gives me the chance to do some real teaching to people who are committed to learning (unlike a lot of high school students in math classes!) I still make my living trading. But by explaining in real time what I am doing and why I am doing it  I can combine my two passions, trading and teaching, into one seamless activity.
